The Perfect Start to a Confident Life

Helping children aged 4 to 6 build confidence, focus, discipline and positive habits from the very beginning.

The early years are an important time for children to develop the confidence, social skills and habits that will support them as they grow.

Our Tigers programme provides a positive, structured introduction to karate in a safe and encouraging environment.

Through age-appropriate activities, clear routines and patient instruction, children learn to listen, follow directions, manage their energy and keep trying when something feels difficult.

Every class helps children develop greater confidence, focus, self-control, coordination and respect.

These are valuable skills that can support them at home, in school and in everyday life.

What Makes Our Tigers Classes So Effective?

Young children learn best through clear routines, positive encouragement and activities designed for their age and stage of development.

Our Tigers programme combines structured karate training with fun, purposeful activities that keep children engaged while helping them develop important physical, social and emotional skills.

Confidence Through Achievement

Children are encouraged to try new skills, recognise their progress and feel proud of what they accomplish.

Focus and Listening Skills

Simple instructions, clear routines and engaging activities help children practise paying attention and responding positively.

Respect and Social Development

Children learn to take turns, work alongside others, follow instructions and show respect to instructors and classmates.

Coordination and Physical Confidence

Age-appropriate karate movements help improve balance, coordination, flexibility, fitness and body awareness.

Every class is carefully structured to help children learn, progress and enjoy themselves at the same time.

What Happens in a Tigers Karate Class?

Each 30-minute class is carefully structured to keep young children active, engaged and learning from beginning to end.

Our Tigers classes combine simple karate techniques, movement activities, listening exercises and clear routines designed specifically for children aged 4 to 6.

Children learn basic punches, blocks, kicks and stances while also practising how to listen, follow instructions, wait their turn and work positively alongside others.

Classes are energetic and enjoyable, but they are not unstructured play sessions.

Every activity has a clear purpose and helps children develop confidence, coordination, focus, self-control and respect.

Parents and guardians are welcome to watch as their child learns, progresses and becomes more comfortable in the class environment.

Age-Appropriate Teaching

Instructions and activities are kept clear, manageable and suitable for young children.

Positive Progress and Recognition

Weekly Tiger Tags and regular belt graduations help children recognise their effort, celebrate progress and stay motivated.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

Children are taught in a structured setting with experienced instructors who understand how to support young beginners.

The Three Pillars of Success

Our Tigers success system is built around three important areas: good attitude and behaviour at home, good attitude and behaviour in school, and good attitude and behaviour and regular attendance to class.

This helps children understand that karate is not just about what they do during lessons. It is about building positive habits that support them in everyday life.

Real feedback from families who have seen their children grow in confidence, focus and enjoyment through our Tigers classes.

A personalised first step, adapted to your child’s age, confidence, ability and individual pace.

Start with a Personalised 1-2-1 Trial Lesson

For children aged 4 to 6, we recommend starting with a personalised £10 1-2-1 trial lesson.

This gives your child the chance to meet us, try some simple karate skills and become familiar with the environment before joining a regular Tigers class.

Because the lesson is one-to-one, we can adapt the session to your child’s age, confidence, ability and individual pace.

This helps us understand how they learn, how they respond to instruction, and how best to support them from the beginning.

The trial also gives parents the opportunity to see first-hand the structure, care and professionalism that goes into our Tigers programme.

You will be able to see how the lesson is taught, how your child responds, and how quickly their confidence and understanding can begin to grow.

It also gives us time to explain how the programme supports positive behaviour, focus, respect and character development, so you can feel confident about whether Tigers is the right next step for your child.

Meet the Instructor

Your child can meet us in a quieter setting before joining a group class.

Try Simple Karate Skills

They will be introduced to basic movements in a fun, age-appropriate way.

For parents, this means your child is joining a programme with a clear purpose: to help them develop positive habits and strong character traits from the very beginning.

Questions About Tigers Classes?

Tigers Karate Classes FAQs

What is the youngest age kids can start?

Children can start Tigers from age 4. If your child is nearly 4 and you feel they may be ready, please contact us and we can advise you. The personalised 1-2-1 trial lesson helps us see how your child responds and whether Tigers is the right starting point for them.

Why a 1-2-1 trial class & how do I book?

In the past, we placed new students directly into regular classes from day one.

While some thrived, many children (and adults!) found it overwhelming, similar to being thrown into the deep end of a pool without knowing how to swim.

Now, with our structured 1-2-1 trials, we ensure a smoother, stress-free introduction to martial arts by:-

- Building confidence before stepping into a full group setting.

- Giving a clear understanding of what to expect in our classes.

- Providing tailored guidance based on the student’s needs, age, and experience level.

- Helping parents see the value of our structured syllabus and character development focus.

Simply click on the "Book a Trial" button and choose one of the available sessions from the calendar.

FAQ image

What should my child wear for their trial lesson?

For the first trial lesson, children can wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move easily, such as a T-shirt and jogging bottoms or leggings.

They do not need a karate uniform for the trial lesson. If your child joins Tigers after their trial, they will receive their customised Tigers uniform as part of their enrolment pack.

The most important thing for the trial is that your child feels comfortable, can move safely, and is ready to take part.

Do parents need to stay during Tigers classes?

Yes. Parents or guardians are required to stay during Tigers classes.

This is part of our safeguarding policy and helps ensure young children are safe, supervised and supported at all times while they are in class. This includes taking them to the bathroom when required.

Staying also gives parents the opportunity to watch their child’s progress, see how the classes are structured, and take useful ideas from the lessons and weekly training planner to support better focus, behaviour and routines at home.

Is karate safe for young children?

Absolutely!

Tigers classes are designed specifically for children aged 4 to 6, with age-appropriate activities, clear instruction and careful supervision.

Children are taught in a structured environment where safety, control, listening and respect are built into every class.

The focus is not on aggressive behaviour or contact fighting. It is on helping children develop confidence, coordination, focus, discipline and self-control in a positive and responsible way.

Our instructors make sure activities are suitable for the age and ability of the children in class.

Can children with additional needs or disabilities join Tigers?

We do our upmost to be as inclusive as possible!

Martial arts, and in particular the structure that our classes and syllabus provides can, and has worked wonders for children with additional learning needs.

All of our children's programs are specifically designed to work with, and support home life, to maximize their development.

We will do our very best to accommodate every child within our classes, no matter what their individual difference may be. However, please understand that there may be safety or health considerations that may prove too difficult for us to overcome.

The 1-2-1 trial sessions are perfect to assess everyone on an individual basis!

How much are the classes?

Tiger Tots classes are only £40pcm! (much cheaper than swimming, dance or gymnastics).

There are multiple discounted enrollment options which are fully explained after the 1-2-1.

These include the first years membership, custom uniform, access to our extensive online material and training videos.

There are also additional discounted upgrade options available, as we want to be as affordable as possible.

However, I’m sure you understand, you get what you pay for, and it’s an investment into your child's future, which will be invaluable!
